AFRICAN YOUTH CAN CHANGE THE ECONOMY OF THE CONTINENT- DR. OPEIBI

Senior Special Assistant to Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Tunde opeibi
With economic depressions biting hard on Europe, America, Asia etc, experts believe that Africa is the potential choice destination for investors. Thus, Africa’s greatness and socio-economic prosperity is in the hands of the youth.

This assertion was made by Senior Special Assistant to Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Tunde opeibi who represented the Deputy Governor, Hon.Mrs. Adejoke Adefulire at Youth Alliance For Leadership And Development In Africa (YALDA)2012.  According to Dr. Opeibi, Africa needs forums of this nature to gather its young intellectual minds together so we can deliberate and discuss the way forward for as a continent.

Speaking on the theme of this year’s conference “Innovation and Creativity for a Better Africa: Implementing Your Dream”, Dr. Opeibi attributed the importance of the conference to seeking solutions to mind-bugging issues of underdevelopment in Africa which has become a second name for the continent. “Innovation and creativity are essential building materials that can only be mustered by youthful intelligence”. He noted that it is not enough to dream, as a dream not supported with action will only turn into a nightmare.

This is why Lagos state government has continuously striven to empower its teeming young population because of its belief in the potential for national development, he said. More so, Lagos state government has initiated many human capacity building and government development programmes that seek to inspire youths to aspire in their area of specialization.

He challenges all to rise and begin to think of ways to contribute to Africa economy using our qualifications and professions. We must not allow foreigners to drive our economic opportunities and prosperity, he said.http://www.channelstv.com/
